Your Relationship With Time: Be the Master of it!

Is time managing you or do you manage time? Who is the boss? Time is elastic, and you can have control over it. People have a perception that this doesn’t happen, but you could have more moments in your day or evening by making choices. When you choose to say yes to everything because you don’t want to disappoint anyone, or if you want others to like you, you often make choices that are overwhelming. But when you choose what really matters to you, get clear about it, and make priorities, things will look different. You will see that you start to suddenly have more space in your day.

Do you see time as scarce? We know by now that if people believe money is scarce, they attract this reality into their lives. The same goes with time. If you view it as scarce or fleeting, it will be scarce or fleeting. Many people say they don’t have enough hours in a day because they don’t want to do something. They may feel other things are more important to them at a particular moment. Consequently, some just want to do everything and keep busy. Sometimes individuals do this because they want to numb a pain like loneliness or depression. In our fast speed society, people think that they need to occupy themselves every second of the day. They often feel that there is something wrong about taking it easy one day. Many people feel guilty when not doing anything.

I strongly believe that resting is “re-charging your batteries,” and getting re-energized to start your day and your work. Not doing anything can allow you to calm your mind, reflect upon your life, and be aware. It can help you to feel your body, your vibration, your heart beat, and simply take a moment to just “be,” rather than running and doing. We all know there is more to life than that. Being present is one of the most important gifts you can give yourself as well as self-care. Other things to do are spending time with those whom you care about.

Another problem for some people is that they are perfectionists. They spend more energy than they should on certain given tasks, or procrastinate because they are afraid to be wrong. People often act this way because they feel they do not have enough hours to do everything.

When you change your perception about time and see that it is actually abundant, you will notice that you have more  of it than you expected. Imagine not wearing a watch or looking at the clock. Do you think time will still exist? The answer is no. The reason is because when you don’t have these tangible objects to measure it, you don’t know it is there.

Learn to be the master of your life, rather than time being your master.
